Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Back to Market

Greetings, farm friends!

The crew returned to the farm this week and we’ve been busy training and preparing to return to the Baltimore Farmers’ Market. We’re excited to be back in action!

This week was extremely wet, and the rain certainly got in the way of our intended plans more than a few times. We’ll likely have to delay some of our early field plantings, and we won’t have quite as many blooms as we’d hoped to bring to the first market of the year. That said, April showers bring May flowers, and we’ve learned over the years to take the rain when we can get it!

Elisa explains some of the ways we’ve addressed flooding on the farm.

It doesn’t look like much now, but the peony field will be brimming with blooms in no time.

As we head into April, we’re approaching the most chaotic time of our year. Seedling sales, Flower Mart, Mother’s Day, peony season, and the busiest time for both planting and weddings all seem to collide at once.

We’re currently in the calm before the storm, hoping that we’ve got all of our ducks in a row to make this year’s chaos a little less wild than last year’s. It’s always a blur, and come June we’ll have our heads on straight and won’t even be able to recall why things were so wild!

Deer began eating our field tulips, so as soon as the rain broke on Thursday we rigged up an emergency deer fence.

Our online seedling sale closes on April 16th, so you’ve got just a little over a week to get those final orders in!

Everything is grown and cared for lovingly in our greenhouses, and at the moment all the seedlings look healthy and strong. We take great pride and joy in sending healthy plants into the world, and do our best to maintain quality and grow vigorous seedlings.

We’ll spend the next several weeks potting up all of the seedlings and getting them ready to send out to your gardens! It’s an honor and a joy to know that these plants will nourish your families for the months to come.

Find additional details about the Plant Sale on our website.

We’ll have stunning tulips available this weekend.

The Baltimore Farmers Market returns this Sunday, April 7th!

If you’ve not made it to the Baltimore Farmers Market before, it’s under the JFX at 400 East Saratoga St.

The market runs from 7:00-12:-00 every Sunday, April-December.

We’re planning to bring bouquets, flowering branches, heirloom narcissus, tulips, pussy willow, poppies, and anything else we can find in the fields after this week’s deluge.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you at the market!

I imagine just about everyone reading this was just about as fed up with the rain as Harry was this week!
