Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Wrapping up the season

Greetings!

Things are winding down around the farm and there’s finally an end in sight to our busy days.

We wrapped up our wreath-making efforts for the season today, and now our sole focus (outside of planning for the 2020 season, of course) is dividing dahlia tubers. The dahlia dividing process is a serious undertaking! This season, we had about 1300 dahlia plants in the ground, and each of those plants produced a clump of tubers. Now, we’re faced with the task of separating all of the tubers and storing them for the winter. We began the process in earnest this week, and after working through maybe one-fifth of the tubers we dug up, we’ve divided and stored over two thousand individual tubers for use next season.

This year, we’re hoping to sell some tubers online and at the farmers’ market, so be on the lookout for more information about that in the coming weeks!

We’ve decided to stop going to the JFX Market for the remainder of the season, as we just don’t have much to bring down for you all! Of course, we encourage you to continue to support local farmers and vendors at the market for the final two Sundays of the season. It can be tough out there when the weather gets cold! We appreciate all of your support throughout this season. Thank you for coming to the market, buying flowers and produce, and sharing your stories and smiles! It is a joy to share our work with you.

For those of you who still need to grab a wreath, framed pressed flower art, or some of our Two Boots bath & body products, Elisa will be at The Filling Station in Sparks for a pop-up this Saturday, December 14th, from 9:00-2:00.

Enjoy the weekend!
