Two Boots Farm

A family run farm and floral design studio in Hampstead, Maryland. We grow a wide variety of cut flowers and produce. We also have over 100 cultivated pawpaw fruit trees. We use ecologically sustainable practices so that future generations can continue to grow in healthy soil.

Mother's Day and More

Greetings, Farm friends,

First things first- your farmers are exhausted! What were we thinking, trying to pull together this massive seedling sale AND get all of our flowers organized for Mother’s Day?! The past two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. Somehow, thank goodness, we’ve managed to do it, though not without a few hiccups here and there.

Our friend Dave spent the entire week pulling, packing, and delivering seedling orders and we couldn’t be more thankful for his help!

Our friend Dave spent the entire week pulling, packing, and delivering seedling orders and we couldn’t be more thankful for his help!

Due to pandemic-related shipping delays and various other things out of our control, we had some seedlings that were smaller than we would’ve normally sent out, seeds that never made it to the farm, and an array of other problems. We definitely bit off more than we could chew this time around. After last year’s overwhelming plant sales, we should’ve known that this year would be even more intense! Luckily, our customers have been nothing but understanding as we try to fit together the pieces and get everything in order. We hope that you are all pleased with your plants, and we look forward to seeing photos of your beautiful gardens growing. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and enthusiasm!

Our cooler was absolutely packed with floral orders this week. In the back area, there was no room to walk around!

We sent out an outrageous amount of flowers to our florists this week, and spent Thursday making the first of our Mother’s Day bouquets. We’ll have bouquets available at the Filling Station seedling sale, our on-farm seedling sale, and at the Johnny’s Market this weekend! Our Mother’s Day bouquets are extra special, each featuring a peony, tulips, and ranunculus. The best of Maryland spring blooms.

Elsewhere on the farm, our crew has been hard at work getting ready to plant our summer veggies (tomatoes and peppers, here we come!) and transplanting lots of flowers. We noticed that the weeds were starting to get a little bit out of hand in some spots around the farm, so we’re working on getting that under control. We try to keep the farm as weed free as possible, because once one weed goes to seed, you’ve inevitably got a problem for years.

We’re looking forward to next week, when the pace of orders should slow down and we’ll have a bit more time to focus on our plants and the soil.

Our seedling (and bouquet!) sales for the weekend are as follows:

May 8th, 8:00- 11:00am, Two Boots Farm

May 9th, 8:00- 11:00am, The Filling Station, Sparks

And, as usual, we’ll be at the market at Johnny’s.

Sunday, May 9th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am: Johnny’s

We’ll be at market with arugula, radishes, spring mix, spinach, and hakurei turnips. We’ll also have lots of Spring flower, vegetable, and herb seedlings. This week, we’ll be bringing extra special Mother’s Day bouquets (with peonies!) and bunches of flowers.

Wishing you all the best, and happy Mother’s day to all mothers and caregivers!

Take care,

Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots Farm crew
