Adding to our crew, could this be you?
Greetings Friends,
The past couple of days have felt noticeably warmer. On those single-digit days, the dish soap in our kitchen completely solidified—but, as if by magic, it turned back to liquid yesterday. Dare I say I think some of the snow has already started to melt! It’s still pretty treacherous moving around the farm while I do my daily chores of opening and closing tunnels for airflow, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the ground again sometime soon… maybe even next week?
We have just a few updates to share:
2025 Crew - minus our two Amelias. Yes, we have two crew members named Amelia.
The Whole Crew Is Coming Back
I’m thrilled to say that our entire crew is returning to the farm this season. Several team members are stepping into new roles and taking on more responsibility. Amelia Hazen is even continuing to work with us remotely while she’s in graduate school, helping with behind-the-scenes admin. I’ve lost track of exactly how long everyone has been with us, but out of our crew of seven, only two have worked just one season—most have been here for three or more years. I’m going to give myself a little pat on the back for retaining such a happy, dedicated team. Gotta take the wins where I can get them! And I love them! These are the best people to spend my every day with. I feel lucky!
We’re Hiring
We’re looking for a new part-time/seasonal farm hand to join us. The ideal workdays are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please help us spread the word! We’d love to find someone who lives relatively close to the farm—long days of outdoor work are even harder with a long commute. We’re looking for someone who pays attention to detail (you’ve got to spot the imperfections in the flowers), has stamina (in cold, heat, bugs—all part of the job!), and is fun to be around. If you know someone who fits the bill, send them our way! You can find the job listing here.
Karen with farmers’ market bouquets
Back by Popular Demand: À La Carte Floral Design
After taking a break last year while we restructured the farm, our à la carte floral design services are officially back! Karen, who has been with us for four years, will be leading this offering. She’s been designing your farmers market bouquets for years, and this feels like a natural and exciting progression for her. Karen is wonderful at customer service and truly makes people feel heard and cared for. I’m excited to hand this aspect of the farm over to her and support her along the way. If you have a wedding, dinner party, or special event coming up, be sure to check out our website—our calendar is already starting to fill up for the year!
The Online Plant Sale Is Open
All your favorite veggies are back, and we’re adding even more pepper this year after completely selling out last season. I’ve already started seeding crops in the greenhouse for the plant sale, including coleus, pansies, monarda, and rudbeckia. To place an order, visit our Plant Sale page for pickup locations and times—and don’t forget about the handy 10% discount for farm pickup!
That’s all for now. I’ll leave you with this final quote:
