Mother's Day and so much more
Hello!
After a busy weekend at Flower Mart, we jumped right back into the swing of things, churning out bucket after bucket of stunning blooms for Mother’s Day. Our florists were placing orders until the very last second, and luckily we have an abundant flush of blooms this week that allowed us to fill every order! Every inch of the van was packed when Regina went out on deliveries on Thursday morning.
Flower Mart was an absolutely wild ride. We had a great time and we’re thankful to everyone who made the time to come see us! We are hopeful that they’ll invite us back next year.
For those on the hunt for Mother’s Day bouquets, fear not- we have you covered! Details on where to find them at the end of the newsletter.
The ranunculus tunnels are still going strong! We think our butterfly ranunculus harvests may slow down in the next week or so, but there are still lots of buds on the plants and we should have a couple more weeks of good harvests, weather permitting.
Right now most of our harvests are coming from our four high tunnels, but our field crops are budding up and we’ll be cutting them in no time.
We’re still struggling to get everything planted thanks to the ongoing wild weather. It looks like we could have a frost on Sunday evening, and so we’re continuing to only plant out the hardiest of crops. We’re expecting heavy rains Friday-Sunday, and then we are hoping that we’ll be able to get back into the fields at some point next week and plant everything we’ve had to wait on.
Elsewhere on the farm, we’re attempting to catch up on weeding and basic maintenance. During our busy springs, it can be hard to tend to the little things around the farm, and it’s easy to let them slip away.
We’re getting excited about some of our coming spring crops It looks like next week we’ll harvest the first peonies of the season, along with a few snapdragons and sweet peas! Our harvests are getting bigger every day and things are looking gorgeous.
We’ve also been busy getting ready to deliver seedling sale pre-orders! If you ordered spring seedlings from our online store, a reminder that next week we will be delivering them to whatever pickup location you specified.
The greenhouse continues to be seedling city! We’re packing up orders and shuffling plants around nonstop these days.
A reminder that May 7th is Cylburn Arboretum’s Market Day. and their ticketed Party on the Porch event on Friday evening.
The rain won’t keep us away! We’ll be set up underneath a tent, and the Cylburn Mansion will be open. There are a lot of excellent vendors participating, including Bramble Baking Company, The Ivy Bookshop, and the Cactus and Succulent Society of Maryland! It should be a great time
Now is the time to be planting your gardens! Purchase your seedlings from local farmers who grow tried and true varieties and take care to supply you with the healthiest seedlings possible.
Mother’s Day Bouquets will be available all weekend long!

Jenna, washing radishes for this weekend’s market.
We’re back at the JFX market on Sunday from 7:00-12:00.
This week’s market stand will feature mason jar arrangements, bouquets, vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings, radishes, and turnips.
If you aren’t a farmers market lover but still want to get a hold of our blooms, 2022 Flower CSA shares are still available!
CSA share pickup is available on-farm, at Motzi Bread in Baltimore, and on a porch in D.C.
We’re now offering both small and large full season bulk bucket shares! This is a great option for those who wish to learn and practice floral design independently. Each bulk bucket comes with a selection of focal flowers, filler, and foliage, and features whatever looks best on the farm at a given moment.
Wishing you well,
Amelia and the rest of the Two Boots crew

Amelia, carrying a full load of plants to the van for Cylburn Market Day
The van was so packed for Thursday deliveries that Regina had foliage riding shotgun!
We share most of our florist sales and deliveries with Hillen Homestead, which is a great partnership for us and gives florists a wider selection of blooms. If one of us is short on something, generally the other is able to fill in.
